Printmaking

1.     Describe the overall composition of your artwork (balance, unity, rhythm and movement).
The final product had texture and i think it was well balanced, but I think it looks a bit messy. Maybe I could have carved out the black spaces instead of the whites. I honestly don't even know how to explain if my work had rhythm or not.
2.     How did you add texture and contrast to your print? Is this important? Why?
To add texture, we had to carve out either the white or the black spaces. I chose to       carve out the white spaces to make sure the final product was very detailed, but i wish i would've done the black spaces because in my opinion, it ended up looking very messy.
3.     Explain how you used positive and negative space to show your image.
I think I could have done a better job with my positive and negative space, because not a lot of what was supposed to show up, showed up.
4.     Describe the craftsmanship of your print. (How good the project is technically crafted)
I think the drawing looks very neat and detailed and it was the one we thought would look the best when printing, but because it had a lot of details, I don't think you can really see them. There was some spaces I could have carved out more, but I tried my best and for this to be my first time doing this, I think I did a pretty good job.
5.     Were you able to achieve depth by showing a foreground, middle ground and back- ground? Explain.
At first, my drawing was very simple, but by adding leaves to the tree branch, it made it more detailed. I don't think I had much of a middle ground, I think i had a background, but it didn't look bad because my drawing was so big it covered the whole  page.
6.     Explain your experience with Printmaking. What were the obstacles and advantages?
I don't really enjoy drawing, so that was probably one of the things that took me the longest to finish, and it made me fall behind. I chose to carve out the white spaces instead of the black and it took me forever, and i was probably one of the last ones to finish. I was very frustrated. I liked the printing part, choosing colors and adding color to the linoleum, but i feel like my final product would always come out very messy. But overall, it was a fun project.
