Printmaking

1.     Describe the overall composition of your artwork (balance, unity, rhythm and movement).
The final product had texture and i think it was well balanced, but I think it looks a bit messy. Maybe I could have carved out the black spaces instead of the whites. I honestly don't even know how to explain if my work had rhythm or not.
2.     How did you add texture and contrast to your print? Is this important? Why?
To add texture, we had to carve out either the white or the black spaces. I chose to       carve out the white spaces to make sure the final product was very detailed, but i wish i would've done the black spaces because in my opinion, it ended up looking very messy.
3.     Explain how you used positive and negative space to show your image.
I think I could have done a better job with my positive and negative space, because not a lot of what was supposed to show up, showed up.
4.     Describe the craftsmanship of your print. (How good the project is technically crafted)
I think the drawing looks very neat and detailed and it was the one we thought would look the best when printing, but because it had a lot of details, I don't think you can really see them. There was some spaces I could have carved out more, but I tried my best and for this to be my first time doing this, I think I did a pretty good job.
5.     Were you able to achieve depth by showing a foreground, middle ground and back- ground? Explain.
At first, my drawing was very simple, but by adding leaves to the tree branch, it made it more detailed. I don't think I had much of a middle ground, I think i had a background, but it didn't look bad because my drawing was so big it covered the whole  page.
6.     Explain your experience with Printmaking. What were the obstacles and advantages?
I don't really enjoy drawing, so that was probably one of the things that took me the longest to finish, and it made me fall behind. I chose to carve out the white spaces instead of the black and it took me forever, and i was probably one of the last ones to finish. I was very frustrated. I liked the printing part, choosing colors and adding color to the linoleum, but i feel like my final product would always come out very messy. But overall, it was a fun project.

Print Sketch

1. Why is texture so important to have in your sketches?
texture makes it look more realistic. it makes it stand out.

2. Why is it neccessary for you to have several references of each animal and each background? Explain.
i think its imporatant to have several references so that you can have different views of your animal.

3. When you look at your sketches are you able to see which sketch is the strongest and will make the best print? How do you know this?
i honestly dont know because my drawings are too big. but the guniea pig, would be the strongest sketch

Chalk Mural

1. Explain your experience working on a team and executing your ideas for the mural.
working on a team was actually a good idea because there was a lot to do and it would have taken too much time for one person to do. i could have never done it by myself. Brainstorming for ideas was fun because we all got to draw our own thing and then we combined our ideas to create one mural.

2. Explain the importance of collaboration when working on a team.
its important to collaborate because its not fair for one person to do all the work. Every member should be assigmned a specific job. If one member is not doing what they're supposed to be doing, then it could impact the final project.
3.  How successful was this project? Explain how and why.
The final product didn't turn out like we thought it would. It was a lot harder than we thought it would be. We didnt have a lot of the colors we wanted to use and that threw us off. We could have added more dark values, but overall, it didnt look too bad.
4. Explain how you feel about creating artwork that others can interact with. Ex. Invoving the whole school?
I think the concept of creating art for people to interact with is cool, but not a lot of people at school knew that you were supposed to interact with it. But once they were aware, it's cool watching them interact with your work. I know in the previous years other art classes have done it, I never interacted with the chalk drawings.
